Is the length of coking time related to gas leakage in coke ovens, and what are the factors that affect such leakage? Impact on sulfur dioxide in coke oven chimneys?
Leakages within the furnace, whether from the carbonization chamber to the combustion chamber or from the brick gas channels to the small flue ducts, will affect the heating process of the coke oven. This will impact the coking time, resulting in the coke not maturing as expected. Leakages are mainly caused by the impermeability of the furnace structure; this is due to inadequate mortar during the construction of the coke oven, uneven expansion of the furnace during heating, as well as issues related to production management. When the leakage amount is small, it has little impact on sulfur dioxide emissions from the chimney; however, when the leakage is significant, the chimney will emit black smoke, which has a considerable effect on sulfur dioxide emissions.
