Firefighting water sources rely mainly on seawater. The fire water supply scheme adopted in the design is a constant-high-pressure fire protection system, with the operating pressure set at 1.4 Mpa in accordance with the design requirements of the dock. The operation method of using seawater for firefighting, fresh water for pressure maintenance, and fresh water for pressure testing is adopted. The advantages of this solution are: reliable water supply, sufficient water sources, guaranteed water pressure, the ability to respond quickly to fires and thus reduce the damage caused by them, as well as reduced corrosion of the fire protection pipes, which extends the service life of the system. The equipment of the fire protection system includes: two vertical seawater fire pumps, one driven by a diesel engine and one driven by an electric motor ; One electric fire testing pump ; Two electric fire suppression pressure stabilizing pumps. The device parameters are listed in the attached device table. Under normal conditions, the pressure in the fire protection piping system is maintained by a pressure stabilizing pump, with an outlet pressure of 0.85 Mpa ; In the event of a fire, the fire pump is activated, with an outlet pressure of 1.4 Mpa. The fire testing pump is used only for system commissioning and post-fire flushing. The above are the exact words from our plant and station engineering design specification. I don’t know why the pressure of the pressure-stabilizing pump is much lower than the operating pressure of the fire protection piping network; why wasn’t it designed to be 1.4 Mpa? ?
The pressure in a stable high-pressure system is generally 0.7~1.2 MPa. By using a constant high pressure, the water supply speed is faster than that of temporary high-pressure systems, allowing for timely delivery of water to the fire site so as to extinguish the fire or effectively control it at an early stage. There is no need to set the steady high pressure at 1.4 MPa.
The pressure stabilizing pump is designed to address pipeline leaks; a moderate level of pressure is sufficient, and there’s no need to create extremely high pressures. 1.4 is set for the flow rate in case of a fire. @jiaguoyun
It’s true that each factory is different, with its own design philosophy; as long as it meets the standards, that’s fine:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol
