As the title suggests: the design specifications for the equipment require one unit in operation and one as a backup. In that case, if the backup unit isn’t used for a year, it needs to be tested, so it doesn’t serve any purpose, right?
I’ve never really understood whether we should use it all.
The safety valve is valid for one year from the date of self-calibration. Whether it works or not, it must be inspected the following year and fitted with a safety certification label as well as a seal.
Normally, only one safety valve needs to be in use; the two are not calibrated simultaneously. Disadvantages of having both units in operation: 1. Increased leakage, as the safety valves may leak slightly under normal conditions. 2 Increase the load on the torch at takeoff.
Usually only one is used, with one as a backup; if the one that is used frequently malfunctions, the backup is activated for repairs.
One in use and one as a backup – this is a safety accessory. Whether it’s used or not, it must be checked when its expiration date arrives. It’s better to be cautious, just in case
Both are in full operation; the safety valve is the ultimate safeguard for the equipment! There is no backup!
We usually activate them simultaneously; in essence, it’s a form of double insurance – if one safety valve fails to function and doesn’t open, the other can still relieve pressure
The setting pressures of the two safety valves are likely different; this provides dual protection – if one valve does not activate when pressure rises, the other one with a higher setting will activate instead
Here, we operate them simultaneously, with different starting values, and conduct inspections upon expiration.
