Our factory is a small chemical plant. The wastewater undergoes iron-carbon micro-electrolysis, followed by flocculation and treatment using aerobic microorganisms; as a result, some sludge is generated. Currently, this sludge is filtered using a filter press, but the moisture content in the water after filtration remains high. We have built a sludge drying room in which drying is carried out using steam along with radiators. However, due to the limited space – the room is only 15 square meters large – the radiators are placed only around the perimeter, which makes it impossible to dry 0.5 tons of wet sludge per day! I would like to ask if anyone has any equipment or techniques that can be used for rapid drying? Small factories have limited costs and can only afford investments of around 100,000 or less. Our volume is not large; after filtration, the amount of sludge produced per day does not exceed 0.5 tons, and we often have to stop operations!

Based on what you’ve said, this drying room doesn’t require a large investment; around 3,000–5,000 yuan should be sufficient. You originally used only thermal radiation drying; heat conduction has been added on top of that. It involves creating a steam heating system on the ground (in circular or square shape), and also making one or several shallow metal trays that are placed on top of this heating system. The sludge is placed in these trays, and they are turned over at regular intervals. Consider appropriately reducing the original number of heat sinks.
Is the filter press you are using currently belt-type or plate-and-frame type? What is the desired moisture content of the sludge after drying?

For plate and frame filter presses, what type of filter cloth do you use? It is recommended that you choose the cheaper one~
