Do all devices need a device foundation?

I know about pumps and towers, but what about those buffer tanks and intermediate tanks? All I saw in the factory was just a leg; it seems there’s no foundation at all
This is related to the size of the equipment; generally, there is a design basis in engineering construction, and for smaller additions, such a basis is not needed – at most, the base plates of the supports may need to be enlarged
It’s better to have it; many devices are installed outdoors, without a foundation, and the base plate sits directly on the ground. When it rains, they get soaked in rainwater and can easily deteriorate.

It depends on the requirements of the equipment and the manufacturing process; some pumps don’t even have a base, and I’ve seen some pumps that are mounted on carts and moved back and forth
Agreed. That’s why, when designing, the foundations of equipment on the ground level need to be raised above the ground by a certain distance, usually 100 units. For special, heavy-duty equipment, separate calculations are required. On the floor level, there are no foundations; instead, there are secondary beams along with embedded steel plates that are welded directly in place
There’s definitely no foundation if it’s placed on a steel structure
