Is the NORSOK M501 coating system suitable for cast iron parts?

As the title suggests, I currently have a ductile iron gearbox intended for use on offshore platforms. The customer requires that it be coated in accordance with the NORSOK M501 standard, but after reviewing this standard, I found that it applies only to steel materials. Is it applicable to cast iron components as well? Those with experience, please help to discuss this. Thank you~~
Iron-based ones are fine; follow the same standards
I know that both steel and iron can be used for corrosion protection through thermal spraying, hot-dip galvanizing, electroplating, and painting. But even when the same processing methods are used, there should still be differences in the specific spraying specifications for steel and iron, right? It is puzzling why M501 is not simply described as a steel component, but only as a steel structure
