Our company has a light steel structure on which we want to install steam pipes, but we are concerned that installing π-type or corrugated expansion joints would generate significant stress, which could have a considerable impact on the light steel structure. I would like to ask if anyone has any good ideas on how to set up this steam pipeline, with a steam pressure of 0.2 MPaG, or 133.5℃ ; The total length of the pipeline is about 300 meters, with four diameter changes in between. π-type compensators take up too much space, making it difficult to arrange them within a factory building; moreover, it is impossible to calculate the stress levels in the pipes. Is it necessary to install a compensator in each reducer section? What type of compensator can minimize stress? I seek advice from experts; thank you! ! !
If the pipe diameter is not large and there is enough space, it is relatively better to use π-type natural compensation. Given that the temperature is not high, 2–3 π-type bends should be sufficient (a precise calculation using C2 can be done). Expansion joints can also be used, but one of them cannot solve the problem; several are needed. Rotating compensators can also be employed, but their installation requires special considerations and they need to be used in pairs. I’m not aware of the specific arrangements; these are just suggestions for reference.
