In PID control, what is a self-balancing object?

In PID control, when setting the PID parameters, for systems that lack self-balancing capability, the integral term is not included; instead, proportional control or proportional-differential control is used. I’ve seen this statement in many sources, but in actual DCS setups, most systems use PI control, with a few using PID control; pure proportional control or PD control is very rare. I would appreciate it if experts in automatic control could explain this, thank you.
Under normal circumstances, only the temperature loop requires a D element; since the temperature delay is significant, integral compensation is needed. Therefore, I think it’s better to have fewer TIC control loops in the device – all the other loops should be controlled using PI control
