Having such an educational background proves that you are already excellent; what’s most important now, I think, is to stay focused and gain more experience. Because not everything can be solved with theoretical knowledge. In today’s society, a high level of education does not necessarily guarantee a high income. Slow down, stay calm, and accumulate knowledge before acting. There will definitely be a nice tomorrow. For a living, most of us do things we don’t like. Without a foundation, none of us can do what we love. Hard work pays off.

If you don’t want to work in design, you can go to a design institute or a university research lab
I agree with the previous opinions – it takes time to build up skills over time. What you need now is a period of accumulation; you need to calm down and adapt gradually, as there is still much to learn. What will be helpful to you in the future may not necessarily be the areas in which you are most skilled or confident academically.
Since the original poster enjoys doing research, I think they should go to a research institute rather than a design firm. One should do what they enjoy; working daily on tasks they dislike, going to work and coming back from work with negative feelings, is neither responsible toward oneself nor toward the work.

I really enjoy engineering design work, so I have stayed in this industry. If LZ doesn’t like it, I suggest changing careers – at least find a job that you like, one that you don’t despise every day
