Are there any regulations specifying that gauge pressure gauges must be used for pressure tests? Can digital pressure gauges be used for such tests?
It can be used, but the owner and third parties are worried that you might fabricate data. You can put them both there together; once they believe it, they can use it.

As long as your digital display gauge comes with a calibration report and its accuracy level meets or exceeds the standard requirements, it can be used; I’ve encountered situations in the past where supervisors required the use of pressure recorders
Pointer-type pressure gauges are cheap, simple, and easy to store – why use expensive, complex digital ones?
We currently have a batch of work that is to be manufactured in accordance with ASME standards. The test pressures specified in the calculation sheets are generated automatically by software, with three decimal places retained. We would like to round these values to two decimal places, but the contractor in India refuses to allow this, which is why three decimal places are shown on the drawings. With such suppression, the accuracy of the pointer pressure gauge certainly won’t be sufficient. When trying to increase the pressure, one has to round it up to the nearest whole number, but there’s a concern that the AI won’t allow that. Therefore, I’m wondering if using a digital pressure gauge could solve this issue.
There are two issues with this: domestic standards only specify the range, accuracy class, and calibration interval of pressure gauges, without specifying whether they should be digital or analog. 1. If it is the contractor who requests a digital display, then the contractor will definitely conduct on-site inspection. So fraud can basically be ruled out, which also meets the requirements of the drawings. 2. Is it manufactured domestically or abroad? If it is manufactured domestically, supervision and inspection are required. Pressure gauges need to be calibrated and can only be used within their calibration period. Then it’s fine for the inspection unit to attach an inspection tag as well.
