There is currently a biogas tank that is about 10 meters tall; the lower part contains liquid while the upper part contains gas. The liquid in this tank contains a large amount of impurities. Now, I want to measure the liquid level and pressure inside the tank. What type of instrument would be suitable for this purpose? Given the presence of so many impurities, pressure and differential pressure transmitters get clogged immediately. . I know that radar can also be used to monitor the liquid level, but it exceeds the budget. . Are magnetic flap switches a good option? Magnetic flap valves clearly don’t work; impurities can clog the float. All magnetic floats pass; if you want something cheaper, how about an ultrasonic level gauge? Flange diaphragm for pressure gauges?

Ultrasonic waves won’t work; that’s certain. A diaphragm-type system using pressure can be used, and a double-flange design for liquid level measurement is an option as well. In all cases, a flusher is required (some models come with a built-in flush ring, which makes things a bit easier), but it’s quite complicated. For radar, it is necessary to confirm whether the dielectric constant meets the requirements.
How about insert-type diaphragm flanges, which can prevent clogging? Rosemount offers an electronic remote transmission option; it uses a plug-in diaphragm flange. The instrument is designed for simultaneous measurement of pressure and level, and it includes a signal distribution unit – this instrument can output the two values you need.
When the ratio of the gas phase pressure to the liquid column pressure is less than 10:1, the liquid level accuracy can be chosen as 0.5 grade or 0.2 grade. The gas phase pressure is definitely lower than that of the liquid phase, so it’s greater than 1:10, right?
