A fixed-type heat exchanger is designed, with an inner diameter of 1500 mm and a wall thickness of 20 mm. The design pressure for the heat exchanger is 2.5 Mpa, and the design temperature is -190°C℃; The heat exchange tubes are 10*0.5 mm in size and 24,000 mm long. If I need to add a pressure vessel compensator (U-shaped expansion joint), the compensation length required is around 80 mm–100 mm. It is generally not allowed to have baffle plates in the shell side. Does anyone who has dealt with this situation have any suggestions? ; The installation process is a problem at the moment: firstly, there are no baffle plates, and secondly, there are expansion joints. It’s difficult to ensure correct installation without making mistakes, which hinders construction!
With the heat exchange tubes being this long, and without baffle plates or support plates, is the unsupported span within the standard requirements?
The heat exchanger is used in a vertical configuration! It will definitely exceed the limit! We are currently selecting U-type expansion joints; I tried it out roughly using software, and adding expansion joints should suffice! The heat exchanger will be insulated, and the cold shrinkage is likely to be minimal.

Well, it definitely has to be done according to the standards! After the expansion joint parameters are determined, calculations are carried out!
