What are the effects of keeping the intermittent water injection system on for a long time in a diesel hydrogenation unit with high conversion?
Water injection is carried out to prevent an increase in the system pressure drop due to the crystallization of ammonium salts in low-temperature areas; continuous water injection is installed at the inlet end of the high-pressure air cooler. Intermittent water injection is generally installed at the inlet of the high-pressure heat exchanger to prevent the high-pressure heat exchanger from being clogged by ammonium chloride crystals due to prolonged operation; the crystallization temperature of ammonium chloride is around 200°C. If water injection is stopped for an extended period, it may have a significant impact on the temperature after cooling due to ammonium formation in the air-cooled tube bundle! And there are also certain requirements regarding the flow rate!
If water is injected intermittently, continuous injection might affect the feed temperature of the stripping tower; moreover, continuous water injection may not be able to reduce the pressure difference
It shouldn’t have anything to do with the feed temperature of the stripper, right?
It can be said that there is a certain relationship: continuous water injection will lower the high-temperature outlet temperature, which in turn raises the heat exchange temperature of the feed while reducing the efficiency of heat exchange with the light fraction oil, thereby lowering the feed temperature to the stripping tower (fractionation tower).
