What to do if the calcium and magnesium levels in the softened cooling water of a centrifugal pump are excessively high?

The unit is equipped with a high-pressure multi-stage centrifugal pump; the cooling water used is tap water, and a water softening device is employed regularly to circulate the water in the cooling tank. The centrifugal pump has been in operation for 2 years. The cooling water was tested recently, and the results showed calcium and magnesium ions at 147 mg/L. I’m not sure what this means Are there any standards for softened water? If the excess is severe, could there be serious consequences, and how should it be handled?
I’m not aware of the relevant standards, but generally, a value below 50mg/L is considered acceptable. Being too high can easily cause fouling on the pipelines and coolers, affecting heat exchange efficiency. Is it because the water softening unit is not regenerated frequently enough, or has the resin been in use for too long resulting in insufficient softening?

Therefore, it is recommended to check the equipment’s operation and maintenance manual.
