Why is a blind zone required in radar level gauges? ? Ask for a standard answer! ! !
It’s not that radar level gauges need to have blind zones; it’s because of their working principle that dead zones are generated. Radar level gauges operate on the principle of transmission, reflection, and reception. For this same reason, it is not possible to measure dimensions within a certain range around the transmitter end of the antenna (for example, 300 mm); this area thus becomes a blind zone
The so-called blind zone does not mean that this range cannot be measured; rather, the fluctuations in the measured data are large, rendering them of little practical value, which is why it is designated as a blind zone. It’s like a human eye: when you move your finger gradually closer to the eye, it becomes difficult to determine the distance or size of the finger at that close range, but it’s not that the finger can’t be seen~
When installing a radar, there needs to be a mounting port for it, and the radar’s horn must extend slightly below that mounting port. Otherwise, there will be significant interference. This distance is the blind spot. The blind zone can be set according to your actual measurement conditions. However, the upper blind zone must be larger than the distance to the mounting opening.
