What exactly are the definitions of active electric shock and passive electric shock? What’s the difference? I don’t understand. The person in the office told me that the passive contacts here mean that, compared to a PLC, this device is passive; I really don’t get it

Active and passive refers to signal processing: if the signal processing unit requires a power supply, it is passive; if the source of the signal has its own power supply, it is active.
