Our company has an MTBE production plant with a capacity of 40,000 tons per ton; several pumps in this plant, when operating under stable process conditions without exceeding flow rates, experience excessive current consumption in their motors after running for a certain period of time. After stopping the pump, it was easy to turn the shaft by hand; upon inspection of the pump’s interior, no signs of corrosion or wear were detected, with only a thin layer of dirt on the impeller.
