Dear sea friends, can a glass-lined reactor no longer be used as a pressure vessel after being relined? If so, which standard does it refer to?
Re-lining. This method requires removing the damaged equipment and sending it to the manufacturer, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly. If the repair time for a glass-lined reactor is 30 days, and each time the steel substrate is resurfaced the thickness of the steel decreases and its strength drops significantly; generally, a glass-lined reactor should not be resurfaced more than three times. This applies especially in cases of large-scale peeling, or in larger equipment such as reactors, tower sections, and storage tanks

Local repair can be used; some manufacturers offer this service. It cannot be mentioned here, as it might be considered advertising. The cost may be higher, but there’s no need to disassemble the equipment; repairs can be done right at the work station, and it takes less time.
I have a gentle question: how are glass-lined pressure vessels inspected regularly? Should we remove some of the enamel, or have it inspected?
Can the equipment without enamel still be used? Check the quality of the porcelain surface for any pinholes by applying 20,000 volts of electric spark; as long as the enamel is not damaged, there is generally no problem with the material of the equipment’s base
