I need to create a 17-meter-long 1-inch carbon steel pipe to be used for attaching safety belts while working on a semi-trailer. I would like to know how many sections it should be divided into, and what are the relevant standards
Is there also a standard for this? Safety is enough.
I would like to ask whether it’s sufficient to use a 17-meter-long 1-inch pipe with supports at both ends only, without any supports in the middle, or whether supports need to be added in the middle as well (and at what intervals)
Add at least three supports in the middle; one every 4 meters
You may refer to the pipe rack supports for this diameter.
The pipes are small; if support is necessary, a spacing of 4 meters is appropriate. If the connection is reliable (through welding or fixture riveting), it’s also fine to use a larger spacing as long as the pipes do not bend.
Is there a movable track with a hook at the bottom for hanging a safety belt?
Yes, have you seen sliding doors? I suggest you go to a hardware store and buy longer stainless steel sliding door tracks, and then make a few loops under the pulleys where safety belts can be hung – that should solve the problem!
