According to data on excavators for the 12 months of 2015, the 29 major excavator manufacturers in China sold a total of 58,896 excavators during that year (including those exported), which represents a 34.9% decline compared to the 90,464 units sold in the same period of 2014. Among them, domestic brands saw a 23% decline, while Japanese and Korean brands experienced a 45.8% decline ; European and American brands saw a 39% decline. The sales volume of small excavators of 13 tons and below was approximately 32,000 units, accounting for over 55% of the total sales. Among them, Sany Heavy Industry’s compact excavators topped the list with sales of nearly 6,000 units ; Among European and American brands, Caterpillar’s compact excavators had the best sales performance, with over 2,800 units sold in 2015 ; Among Japanese and Korean brands, Kobe Steel ranks first with sales of over 2,000 units, followed closely by Kubota, which also has sales of over 2,000 units. Doosan, Hitachi Construction Machinery, and Komatsu all achieve decent results as well. More than 20,000 medium-sized excavators with a capacity of 13 tons to 30 tons (excluding 30 tons) were sold, accounting for 35% ; 5,403 large excavators weighing over 30 tons were sold, accounting for less than 10% of the total.
