Is it a CB motion alarm signal? Is connecting the action alarm indicators of multiple CBs in series done to save money? Generally, we connect a single contact directly to the DCS, or use an intelligent switchgear to transmit data to the DCS via a serial data line
Since it is for lighting purposes and not for applications with high requirements such as safety interlocks, many monitoring points (using closed contacts) can be connected in series to a single DCS point for alarm generation. As long as one of the circuits trips, the DCS will send an alarm signal, which in turn alerts the electrical maintenance staff to go and check the issue. We have one place where we do this. If a DCS alarm is generated for each switch, many DCS points will be required, resulting in high costs.
There are wires; it’s sufficient as long as the DCS has available DI points. . . . Not much is needed
