The catalyst used in this process was independently developed and produced by the Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry. This project was a key project under the assessment in Shaanxi Province in 2015; its products are lead-free, sulfur-free, have low benzene content, high octane rating, and excellent quality ； The production process is energy- and resource-efficient, with wastewater being recycled, making it an environment-friendly project. The completion and operation of this project are of great significance for promoting the adjustment and upgrading of the methanol industry structure, improving the ecological environment, and driving regional economic development.

Although it’s said to have a high octane rating, just how high is it exactly? Do gasoline of the same grade and that refined from oil have the same high calorific value?
I don’t understand – it says one thing about relocation and another about successful testing; is it a new project? Is it still the same technical improvement?

The new location for Baonit Group’s comprehensive relocation and technological upgrading is located in the Changqing Industrial Park in Fengxiang County. The project is planned to be carried out in two phases: Phase 1 requires an investment of 348.4 million yuan, while Phase 2 requires an investment of 895 million yuan ； Upon completion of the project, the annual sales revenue is expected to be 3,559 million yuan ； It can accommodate 600 employees. The construction covers an area of 316.26 mu, with a total investment of 1,245 million yuan. This project was a key project under the assessment in Shaanxi Province in 2015. In February 2014, Baonit Group’s 100,000 tons per year methanol-to-aromatics project was approved by the Baoji Development and Reform Commission. The main products of the first-phase methanol-to-aromatics project with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons are light aromatics, as well as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and heavy aromatics, which are by-products of the aromatic synthesis process. The output is 100,000 tons per year for light aromatics, 14,390 tons per year for LPG, and 11,270 tons per year for heavy aromatics. Upon completion of Phase 1, the annual sales revenue is expected to be 850 million yuan. The first-phase project with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons of aromatics produced from methanol utilizes a process for converting methanol into aromatics in one step using fixed-bed adiabatic reactors, which was developed jointly by the Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Saiding Engineering Company, and Yunnan Coal Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. This technology features a simple and rational process; compared to other fixed-bed aromatic technologies, it eliminates the reactor and corresponding catalyst used for the conversion of methanol into dimethyl ether, thereby reducing equipment manufacturing costs and investment requirements for the plant. The production process is also simpler and more straightforward to control. The product is lead-free, sulfur-free, has low benzene content, a high octane rating, and excellent quality. The production process is energy- and environment-friendly, with wastewater recycled; it produces no odors, making it an environmentally sustainable project. Following the policy-driven bankruptcy of Baoji Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory, it was restructured and transformed into Shaanxi Baonit Chemical Group Co., Ltd. The company’s registered capital is 132.65 million yuan; it inherited the assets and qualifications of the former Baoji Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory. It officially began operations in January 2010, with Baoji State-owned Assets Operation Co., Ltd. holding 100% of the shares in Shaanxi Baonit Chemical Group Co., Ltd.

With crude oil prices so low, can this still be done?
Is this called methanol-to-aromatics or methanol-to-gasoline?
The demand for methanol in the international market is already saturated; the use of methanol to produce gasoline will increase demand for methanol.
