Regarding the sterilization issue of activated carbon filters

Dear friends from Sichuan, I would like to ask whether chemical methods can be used for sterilization and disinfection in activated carbon filters used for wastewater treatment. If so, which chemical agents should be used? Note: We are a food company, and the treated water will end up in our products.
It is best for the food industry to avoid using chemical agents for sterilization; opt for physical methods of on-line sterilization instead – it’s safer!
Our activated carbon filters are made of carbon steel lined with rubber, and they are subjected to pasteurization; however, the temperature resistance of the rubber lining does not meet the required standards. That’s why I’m thinking of using chemical disinfection; I wonder if anyone here has any relevant experience.
Medicines should not be used indiscriminately on food; it is best not to use any medicines at all. Chemical agents can have an impact; it’s better to use ultraviolet disinfection
It seems not very feasible to use ultraviolet light for sterilizing and disinfecting activated carbon, right?
Silver-loaded activated carbon can inhibit and kill bacteria; I’m not sure if it meets your requirements
