In the expansion-bed MTBE etherification reactor, the catalyst bed is divided into upper and lower sections. There are several meters of space above the topmost bed layer up to the reactor’s top outlet. What is the purpose of this distance?
Puffing means creating space for vaporization!
The expansion space refers to the area within the catalyst bed; I am talking about the space above the partitions in the catalyst bed and up to the upper outlet of the reactor. What is the purpose of this space? Is it simply the separation and sedimentation of the catalyst from the material?
