As the Belt and Road Initiative moves from top-level design and planning to gradual implementation, the 2016 (5th) International Conference on Bridge and Tunnel Technology is scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, from May 25-26, 2016. This conference brought together over 800 senior officials and experts from the field of road, bridge, and tunnel engineering both domestically and internationally. It aimed to organize and implement key projects during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, to discuss the transportation needs arising from China’s economic and social development, as well as the characteristics of the current mode and content of development.
