【Q&A Question 149】September 16, 2016: What are the steps for putting the inter-stage cooler of a reciprocating machine back into operation after maintenance? The answer key will be available after responding; scoring is based on addressing the key points. 1. Check the status of the supply and return manual valves; they should be in the closed position after normal maintenance, while the drain valve should be in the open position. 2. Close the upper water drain, slowly open the inlet manual valve and keep it at a low opening degree to discharge the gas in the cooler through the return water drain. 3. When a relatively large amount of water starts to flow out during the return water drainage, the drainage can be turned off. Open the supply valve wider, while releasing the return valve. 4. Pressurize to an appropriate pressure according to the actual conditions for a gas-tightness test; once the test shows no issues, it can be put into use.
The water circuit is airtight and leak-free; once the water circuit is in use, the nitrogen in the gas circuit also ensures airtightness with no leaks. After it’s in operation and normal conditions are confirmed, the press is started. Once the pressure reaches the normal level, there should be no leaks
First, perform a test run: slowly open the circulating water inlet valve. Open the vent at the top of the cooler; once water is seen flowing out, close it. Gradually open the circulating water inlet valve until it is fully open, then slowly open the circulating water outlet valve. The temperature of the gas exiting can be controlled using this outlet valve
Operation steps: 1.
Close the outlet valve and open the outlet vent. Open the inlet valve, release the air; once it has been completely expelled, close the outlet vent valve and then open the outlet valve.
1. Check the inlet and outlet valves of the inter-stage cooler; 2. Open the valve for the water circuit of the inlet cooler, and slightly open the cooling water vent valve to release air ; 3. After exhaust is complete, open the water outlet valve.
First, open the main inlet valve for the circulating water, then open the main return valve for the circulating water, and adjust the water pressure to around 0.4 MPa. Then, open the inlet and outlet valves for each water cooler and the like in sequence. Then, the gas in each circulating water pipeline is exhausted.
Fill it with fuel first, and check for leaks.
