Chillers are used to re-cool the chilled water in water cooling towers; the company uses Freon chillers. Are there any other alternatives? What type of chillers are used in the other air separation units? How to choose the model?
There are many types of refrigerants, and they are not limited to fluorine-based ones. Screw compressors are used here; may I ask which manufacturer’s chillers you have?
This was seen at the previous company. The air separation unit I’m currently at doesn’t have a chilled water unit for now, as cooling is achieved by using air from the water cooling tower; therefore, it’s not clear which manufacturer it is
Our water supply and drainage department uses lithium bromide; I heard that other departments also use hydrocarbon refrigerants
Are lithium bromide chiller units highly corrosive? Is maintenance troublesome?
It is possible to increase the amount of waste nitrogen, or switch to an ammonia cooler or a chiller unit; Carrier is recommended for this purpose
Freon is no longer allowed to be used; R134A
That is the case when a low amount of nitrogen is used; waste nitrogen and some of the nitrogen are fed into the water cooling tower to lower the water temperature. If the temperature is low enough, it is possible to shut down the ice machine. However, if there isn’t an excess supply of nitrogen available for discharge, it is still necessary to have the ice machine in operation~~
We use ammonia coolers for cooling, but this is probably only used in ammonia synthesis plants
We have two chillers: one from Carrier and one from York; the York unit is easier to operate
