At around 6–7 o’clock in the morning, the 4.3-meter coke oven at our company emits yellow smoke from its chimney. What could be the cause?
When the gas is heated, incomplete combustion results in yellow smoke.
It is caused by incomplete combustion. 1. At the beginning of operation of the coke oven, if the gaps between bricks or the drying holes used for oven drying are not tight, raw gas from the carbonization chamber leaks into the combustion chamber. It causes incomplete combustion of gas, resulting in black smoke or even yellow smoke. II. Due to production requirements, the coking time was changed; poor management of the iron components led to unreasonable expansion and contraction of the furnace, resulting in leaks and the emission of black smoke. III. Graphite in the brick joints is caused by prolonged empty burning of the furnace due to accidents, or by the furnace door remaining open for an extended period of time. It was burned, causing leaks. IV. An unstable heating regime, such as unstable or unreasonable collector duct pressure and a low air excess factor, leads to incomplete combustion. V. Faults in the heating system, such as switch failures, insufficient exhaust gas exchange, and malfunctions in the gas and suction adjustment mechanisms, can all lead to incomplete combustion.
It’s very simple, there are just two reasons: 1. Excess gas; 2. Leakage in the coke oven, resulting in incomplete combustion.
There is a high possibility of leaks, but the pressure of the gas system can be checked at regular times each day to see if it remains stable
Here’s a suggestion: 1. First, examine the sequence of coke pushing to see whether most of the carbonization chambers are at the point where the amount of raw gas generated is highest in the morning; 2. Is there severe leakage in the coke oven? ; 3. The workers on shift during the morning handover are quite tired; could there be management issues?
Your coke ovens should be burning coke oven gas, and a large amount of steam will emanate from the chimneys in winter. However, due to leakage in the furnace or an inadequate thermal regime, combustion is incomplete; at the same time, the levels of SO2 and NOx in the flue gases are high, resulting in impure steam being emitted from the chimney. Under the sunlight in the early morning, this steam appears yellow. You might as well observe from several different angles in the morning when yellow smoke is coming out. Because theoretically, a chimney should under no circumstances emit yellow smoke, unless there is a collapse in the carbonization chamber that causes severe leakage. Night shift production is high; the pressure in the gas collection pipe is high between 6:00 and 7:00 in the morning, caused by leaks in the furnace. Make sure to adjust the gas collector pressure to maintain it within a reasonable range
