Product: Dibenzylmethane; production process: benzene + benzoyl chloride → dibenzylmethane + HCl. After synthesis, it is washed with water to neutralize the acid and residual benzoyl chloride, then solvent removal is carried out to eliminate excess benzene, and the product is obtained through distillation. Some of the products are exported to Europe, and the customers require that the total chlorine content in the products be less than 50 ppm; however, we are currently only able to achieve a level of around 200 ppm. We have tried methods such as controlling distillation and increasing the number of tower stages, but with little success. The key issue is that we still do not know what exactly this total chlorine substance is. Even when the product’s purity reaches 99.98%, the total chlorine content remains at 200 ppm. Gas chromatography cannot detect it; it was measured using a sulfur-chlorine analyzer. I’d like to ask the experts here for any good methods to remove it
