Are the MTG and MTP catalysts SAPO-34?
The catalysts that are currently available for use in MTG and MTP processes belong mainly to the ZSM-5 series. Due to the smaller pore size of SAPO-34, the main product obtained during methanol-to-hydrocarbons conversion is ethylene. However, most of the information mentioned above applies to laboratory or pilot-scale installations; I have not tested industrial catalysts in person, but it is understood that they are mostly modified and supplemented with additives. So it’s better to let experts decide on the actual catalyst
