(3) R12. R12 is a traditional refrigerant that was one of the first in the Freon family to be widely used. In particular, it has a low condensation pressure and a small isentropic exponent; as a result, under the same high and low temperature conditions of the working medium, its exhaust temperature and pressure are lower than those of ammonia and R22. It has therefore been widely used for a long time in air conditioning systems, small refrigeration warehouses, freezers, and refrigerator cooling systems. However, R12 has a lower cooling capacity per unit volume, far below that of ammonia and R22. As a result, it was gradually replaced by R22 in air conditioning systems. It is currently mainly used in medium and small low-temperature refrigeration systems as well as vehicle air-conditioning refrigeration systems.
