For vacuum distillation columns, packed columns are generally used; there is almost no internal recirculation within the column except in the vaporization section, and extraction back to the column is employed instead. So when simulating a vacuum distillation column, does this amount of internal recirculation need to be specified in the pumparound setting? Is it still only the heat-extraction reflux that requires a pumparound setup? How is the flow rate for these internal refluxes determined?
