Is it feasible to add fillers in the AAOAO activated sludge tank?

I would like to ask everyone: is it effective to add some fillers, such as suspended fillers, in stage A or stage O of the activated sludge process? Is it possible to enhance the stability of the system and enrich the bacterial population? But if it is added, will an excessively high sludge concentration cause too much sludge to accumulate on the packing, preventing it from being removed? What potential disadvantages might there be? The denitrification effect has now basically reached its peak. Will adding it increase the contact time between the wastewater and sludge, thereby improving the treatment efficiency? ? The following MBBR operation methods can be referred to; adding packing is beneficial for system stability, and it leads to a significant improvement in treatment capacity as well as in the removal efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus. However, the effluent needs to be treated so that the suspended packing does not get carried away with the water flow.
