In our company’s sulfuric acid production facility, the waste heat boiler has an evaporation capacity of around 20 tons per hour. It was operated without any chemicals added for 3 years; now tests have shown that the pH level is abnormal, at around 4. We plan to add chemicals for adjustment. Is it appropriate to use trisodium phosphate alone? What should be the approximate amount to be added? Should the phosphate level in the wastewater from the incineration furnace be kept at no more than 10 mg/L? Please advise. Thank you!

There’s no specific range for the amount to be added, right? As long as the phosphate level is maintained between 15 and 30 mg/L, that should be fine. Seeking advice. Seek encouragement.

Adding trisodium phosphate is appropriate; our pH is between 9 and 11, and the phosphate level in the wastewater from the incineration furnace should be kept at no more than 10 mg/L
Whether chemicals are added or not, and regardless of the pressure level, as the boiler water concentrates and evaporates, it remains alkaline; the current pH value shows acidity – conduct a thorough investigation
If soft water is acidic, the cause must be identified first, and then it should be adjusted using trisodium phosphate
Although the optimal range for phosphate levels is 5–20 mg/l, around 10 is considered the best value. I recall seeing a graph indicating the value that provides the best protection for boilers, but I can’t find it anymore; I’m sorry about that. Ammonia water also needs to be added to control alkalinity and pH levels
