The instrument pipelines in power plants are insulated to prevent freezing, as required by the production process. The insulation is sufficient to keep these pipelines from freezing, so it isn’t necessary to maintain a very high temperature. Under normal circumstances, a low-temperature type of electric heating tape is sufficient. However, since these systems are used in power plants, which are explosive environments, an explosion-proof version of electric heating tape must be used. But after operating for a certain period of time, the pipelines in power plant instruments need to be cleaned using high-temperature steam; at that time, the temperature of the pipelines exceeds the temperature tolerance of the heating tape. Therefore, using low-temperature heating tape for insulating the pipelines in power plant instruments is not appropriate. Is there then a type of heat tracing product that can withstand the high temperatures encountered during steam cleaning of instruments and pipelines in power plants?
