Has anyone simulated the use of concentrated sulfuric acid for cleaning the acetylene section? This process involves many electrolytes. I was assigned this task as a beginner in Aspen, and I couldn’t find any prior simulations of this kind. Experts, please offer some guidance.

What do you mean by unnecessary salts? Don’t salts also ionize in water? Not consider it?
Give it a try and you’ll see; there are many hydrates and other things, or solid salts that crystallize. If you determine that crystallization is not possible in your system, just remove those substances – it helps bring about convergence
So, if the liquid in the pre-alkaline wash tower contains Na3PO4, but in very small amounts and without crystallizing, remaining only as ions in the solution, does that mean we don’t need to consider its ionization reaction? What if this substance is not present?
Ionization needs to be taken into account; you’ll know once you give it a try. After the electrolyte guide is generated, there are various substances such as Na3PO4▪2H2O, Na3PO4▪2H2O(S), Na3PO4(S), and so on. Of course, the ionization equilibrium must be considered, but if it’s within the solubility range, then there’s no need to consider the crystallization equilibrium. In other words, Na3PO4(S) doesn’t need to be taken into account, and the same applies to the others
What is the purpose of using ASPEN simulation for cleaning the acetylene unit with concentrated sulfuric acid? Is it for operational optimization or merely for simulation purposes? Is there any potential for energy savings?
