Doesn’t anyone think that the textbooks for the Basic Chemistry Examination are really terrible? Especially the afternoon section is quite difficult and relies heavily on calculations; it’s very different from the actual exam questions and can easily be misleading. Could any expert recommend some other textbooks?

It is a bit difficult, but once you master it, the exam becomes nothing much. I finished the afternoon section in 40 minutes
The textbooks from Tianjin University are sufficient; the subjects in the morning are all basic ones, and their difficulty depends on an individual’s foundation – they cover a wide range of topics but lack depth. In the afternoon, the exams focus on two specialized subjects: chemical engineering materials and physical chemistry; it’s important to study these thoroughly as they will be useful during the professional exams.
It can’t be said that way; each textbook has its own characteristics, so there’s no need to worry about it. When reviewing, focus on one textbook as the main source and take into account the other textbooks as well
