I came across a float-type level gauge, and the density specified in its design differs from the density of the medium present in practice. I was wondering if there are any level gauges that allow one to set the density manually; with float-type gauges, it’s very troublesome to replace the float each time when the density is incorrect. I haven’t used other type of level gauges; please, experts, explain in more detail. Thank you
Float-type level gauges (level switches) are all adjustable within a certain density range; if the density exceeds this range, the gauge must be replaced.
The density of the design must be the same as that of the material on site; only then is it useful for on-site production.
Differential pressure level gauges can be adjusted as needed; with double-flange differential pressure level gauges, the float part can also be adjusted. As long as the density difference is not significant, calibration using water is also possible

The FISHER buoys we have used allow for setting parameters such as density via HART communication. Some buoys do not have the function of parameter setting. However, it is sufficient to be able to set the zero scale, or set it at 50%, and it can then be used. What you described isn’t very specific. It’s possible that you guys haven’t calibrated it properly? Have you tried both dry schools and wet schools?
Based on the poster’s current description, it seems that floating buoys are used to measure the level; if the density of the process medium keeps changing, guided wave radar could be considered for measuring the level. Of course, there is a prerequisite that the dielectric constant of the upper layer medium is higher than that of the lower layer by a certain amount.
