In recent years, Xiangyun County in Yunnan has actively explored new paths for the development of ecological civilization in urban and rural areas. It has pursued the construction of rural energy projects to accelerate ecological progress in environments with lush green landscapes. As a result, over 10,000 rural households have built biogas digesters and started using biogas. While reaping the benefits of these new energy initiatives, they are also guiding their development toward sustainability through the principles of ecological civilization. In line with the requirements of upholding ecological red lines and jointly preserving a beautiful homeland, Xiangyun County has always given top priority to a healthy ecosystem. It actively pursues new paths for the development of an ecological civilization, focusing on projects related to rural energy supply such as the construction of household biogas digesters, the replacement of traditional cooking stoves with more fuel-efficient ones, and the use of solar water heaters. Through project-driven initiatives, strong administrative support, and the role of model sites, the county makes full use of renewable energy sources in rural areas to effectively advance the development of such energy projects. To date, 10,774 household biogas digesters have been installed across the county, along with 19 village-level service centers that serve more than 5,700 households. Farmers in 1,191 natural villages or residential groups throughout the county now have access to energy-saving facilities.
