Should the fire hazard classification of zinc powder be Class A or Class B?
Zinc powder is a strong reducing agent that readily reacts with oxygen in the air. It also has a very low melting point of 420°C; molten zinc can thus serve as a source of fire, for example by flowing to lower areas and causing new fires. Pay for Hazard Category 4.2
Does it belong to Category A or Category B? Some sources classify it as Category B; according to the building codes, it falls under Category A, Item 4 – substances that, at normal temperatures, in contact with water or water vapor in the air, can produce flammable gases that may lead to combustion or explosion ; Do you think it belongs to Category A as well?
Class C combustible solids, I guess. I can’t do that; check the building codes and safety manuals instead.
Metallic potassium and sodium belong to Category A; should zinc also belong to Category A?
Zinc is definitely not as effective as potassium and sodium; they belong to Group 1, while zinc is far inferior. But besides fire protection, should the poster also consider explosion prevention?

I remember that the order of reducing properties is: potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, aluminum; zinc, iron, tin, lead (hydrogen); copper, mercury, silver, platinum, gold. What was said on the 8th floor is correct. We have previously worked on zinc powder projects, and the fire hazard of zinc powder was classified as Category B.
