Approval for soil and water conservation measures for a 2.2 billion cubic meter/year coal-to-natural gas project in Anhui Province / Author/Source: Date: 2016-04-18 Clicks: 6 From April 6 to 7, the Soil and Water Conservation Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Water Resources held a meeting in Huainan City, Anhui Province, to review the \"Soil and Water Conservation Plan Report for the 2.2 billion Nm3/year coal-to-natural gas project operated by Anhui Energy Group Co., Ltd.\" Experts and representatives present inspected the project site; after listening to the company’s presentation on the soil and water conservation measures planned for the project, they agreed, following discussion, that the report met the required standards and was approved. In April 2014, the Huainan Coal-to-Gas Demonstration Project in Anhui received a reply from the General Office of the National Development and Reform Commission titled “Reply from the General Office of the National Development and Reform Commission regarding the preliminary work on the Huainan Coal-to-Gas Demonstration Project in Anhui” (Document No. FGBNY [2014] No. 818). This reply approved the commencement of the preliminary work for the project. Located in Yangcun Township, Fengtai County, Huainan City, Anhui Province, this project covers an area of about 2,300 mu. It is a natural gas project with an annual production capacity of 4 billion cubic meters, requiring a total investment of around 30 billion yuan. The construction will take place in two phases: the first phase involves an investment of 15 billion yuan to build facilities capable of producing 2.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. This project was funded and constructed jointly by Waneng Group, Shanghai Huayi, and SDIC Xinji. At present, the project feasibility study report has been completed, and preliminary work is underway for the project’s environmental impact assessment, safety assessment, energy assessment, as well as arrangements for water supply, power supply, railway transportation, and dedicated docks. On July 17, 2015, Anhui Energy Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Huayi Group Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly advance the coal-to-gas demonstration project in Huainan, Anhui. On October 28, Anhui Energy Group Co., Ltd. and SDIC Xinji plan to jointly invest in the development, construction, and operation of a coal-to-natural gas project in the Anhui (Huainan) Modern Coal Chemical Industry Park in Huainan City. The two parties intend to sign the \"Investment Agreement for Anhui Wanneng Coal-to-Natural Gas Co., Ltd.\"
