Hello everyone, a newcomer seeking help. Our company is a large petrochemical enterprise with numerous DCS stations on site, and on-site regulation and control are carried out from the control room. To standardize the company’s management, we plan to install a set of monitoring software. Its main function is to retrieve data from the DCS and transmit it to the executives’ offices, allowing senior managers to view the status of the DCS systems from their offices. No operations are required; it serves solely as a monitoring tool. Could everyone please help recommend some good manufacturers or provide some good solutions? Typically, DCS manufacturers provide OPC software and licenses; once it is installed, the computer in question becomes an OPC server. If you want to save money, you can develop your own host software and use it as an OPC Client to read data from the server. If you don’t have the capability to do this, you can turn to manufacturers of MES, scheduling systems, or SCADA systems – it’s a quite standard project.
Of course, it depends on which DCS you are using. Some manufacturers, such as Yokogawa DCS, offer solutions based on Microsoft RD Remote Desktop, which makes things much simpler.

The device used for uploading data depends mainly on the DCS system in use at your site. Many DCS devices come with dedicated data upload software. If you want to upload data from many DCS manufacturers, it is necessary to plan in advance and also check whether the data communication protocols are supported! !
The previous data acquisition system could upload data once OPC was used; there are many companies that can develop such systems, which are mainly designed for collecting data from DCS systems. Currently, all DCS systems on the market provide standard interfaces for connecting to databases – all you need to do is provide the model number of the DCS manufacturer.
