Hydrogen sulfide gas is being measured, but the gas contains impurities. Previously, a differential pressure flow meter was used, but it tends to crystallize and block the pressure sensing holes. Experts, how should I choose a suitable flow meter? A V-cone meter was used before, but it gets blocked
By crystals, I mean those large pieces of material, similar to sulfur crystals
I’m currently using a V-cone type differential pressure gauge. Does the twin-channel subtractive type differential pressure gauge with a flat diaphragm structure you mentioned require the pressure tapping holes to be replaced with flanges? This is because the material contains crystalline substances similar to sulfur, which can clog the valves in the pipes.
The process has removed most of the crystals, but the remaining crystals are still a problem for the measuring equipment. Now I want to use a different method of measurement; what’s needed is volumetric flow rate. Could you recommend one method, such as the target type?
As long as the process permits, backblowing with something like N2 can be tried. What are the requirements for accuracy?
The crystallization is very severe; it has to be soaked in alkaline water and then smashed with iron before it can be removed
Poster: If there are severe crystallizations, it is fatal for 99.9% of flowmeters. Then you can consider other options, such as whether heating can be provided at the pressure tapping For the throttling element, a wedge-shaped element that is not very sensitive to crystallization could be considered. You might as well give it a try.
Such powerful crystals are indeed a problem; contact methods don’t work at all. Non-contact methods could be considered, such as ultrasound
