In the control room of the chemical plant, in addition to the DCS computers, there are several computers dedicated to displaying interlocks; these are likely part of the SIS system. There are also some manual physical buttons on the adjacent consoles, which are used to trigger interlocks as well, such as for emergency shutdown of the heating furnace or the compressor. My question is: do these buttons belong to the SIS system? My colleague calls those buttons the auxiliary control panel; I don’t quite understand that. There’s also a computer nearby, as well as another computer dedicated to controlling the turbine unit. They say it’s called CCS. I’d like to ask what CCS stands for and what’s the difference between it and DCS

CCS stands for Unit Control; it is also sometimes referred to as ITCC. The main difference between CCS and DCS is that DCS is used for monitoring data from conventional control loops, while CCS is employed as a specialized control system for large-scale industrial equipment, such as compressors and steam turbines. It features dedicated control modules for the specific functions of these large devices, such as the anti-surge system in compressors and the DEH system in steam turbines. Moreover, its scanning speed is much higher than that of DCS. SIS works in conjunction with the auxiliary control panel to enable safe monitoring and shutdown of large-scale equipment. The buttons on the auxiliary control panel are used for quick operations during accidents, planned shutdowns, or startup procedures; such operations need to be carried out with the interlocks disabled

The auxiliary control panel is considered part of the SIS; the CCS you mentioned refers to the control system for large-scale power plants. Some resets cannot be completed on the SIS and must be performed at the auxiliary control panel
