It’s been two years since I graduated, and I still feel like I don’t know what direction to take. I graduated in 2014 with a degree in Process Equipment and Control Engineering from a 211 university. Right after graduation, I worked at a listed company in Guangdong, handling chemical equipment management. Later, due to illness, I took a break of almost half a year. Now I work as a technician at another company that deals with graphene, a technology that’s currently very popular. Since it’s a startup, my tasks at first were varied; we’re still in the process of setting up the manufacturing facilities. Recently, due to health issues, I’ve been feeling depressed and very pessimistic about the future. Having not worked for almost half a year, I’ve forgotten many things. I know how to use software for design and drawing, but I can no longer recall how to represent various structures. For 3D design, I used PROE before, but now I’m learning UG instead. As for electrical engineering, I basically remember nothing anymore. I don’t know what value I can bring to this company, nor what it can offer me. Suddenly, I feel like I’m useless and that nothing I do matters. I have no idea where I should focus my efforts going forward. It’s frustrating

Go for the postgraduate entrance exam; you might consider changing your major
Wanting to learn everything, in the end one ends up mediocre, not skilled in anything, and lacks competitiveness. Due to health issues, my concentration and memory have declined significantly. I’m almost 25 now; many of my friends have started getting married and having children, and my family is also pressing me to do the same. I spent all my savings on medical treatments, and I also took out a lot of loans, which I still haven’t managed to repay yet. The stress is overwhelming

Original poster, I graduated in 2014 as well, from an ordinary key university. Lately, I’ve noticed a decline in my eyesight, which is causing me some concern. If one takes the postgraduate entrance exam to escape reality, I don’t think it’s necessary; from preparation to completion (assuming one is admitted), it will take at least 4 years. Changing majors will result in a reduced level of competitiveness; if I don’t change majors, I think it doesn’t really matter whether one pursues graduate studies in our field or not, as it’s too traditional, and experience is what counts. Another option is to work in marketing or sales (I would really like to give it a try if there’s an opportunity), or to work on projects, meet different kinds of people, expand my network, and prepare for starting my own business. (Although I have various ideas of my own, in such an environment, I can only temporarily be a decent design engineer. No! It should be the draftsman)!
