I would like everyone to explain the considerations when choosing between ball valves and butterfly valves. The sealing requirements aren’t high, so either of the two should work fine. What is the price difference between the two? What is the difference in the effort required to open and close them?
Ordinary butterfly valves are much cheaper than ball valves; the choice depends mainly on suitability – go with a butterfly valve if there are no strict requirements
1. Consider the operating conditions: Butterfly valves can be considered for medium and low pressure applications; they are not suitable for high pressure. 2. Torque: Eccentric butterfly valves require less torque, it’s harder to say regarding centerline butterfly valves, while ball valves always require a significant amount of torque. So, it is more cost-effective to choose an eccentric butterfly valve for the upper part. 3. Price: There’s no need to discuss mid-range options; ordinary ball valves are cheaper than eccentric butterfly valves
Generally, butterfly valves are inexpensive and can operate at lower pressures
It’s impossible to discuss this without taking into account the medium, operating conditions, and so on
Butterfly valves do not have the same level of sealing as ball valves, and they are easier to operate for opening and closing
In terms of price and opening/closing torque, this is a false proposition. For DN200 butterfly valves and ball valves, and DN2000 butterfly valves and ball valves, is it still necessary to make comparisons in these two cases? The ball valve from 2000 – why not give it a try? Whether it is difficult or easy to open and close is not a problem with the valve itself, but rather a problem with the actuator. It’s still the DN2000 butterfly valve; the force required using a first-stage worm gear versus a second-stage worm gear is significantly different!
I wasn’t quite clear on points 2 and 3: which is less labor-intensive, an eccentric butterfly valve or a ball valve? When the actuating mechanisms are consistent. What is the midline? Do you mean the ball valve should be cheaper?
It’s not an exam, so don’t take it too seriously. Should we consider a range of 50 to 300? What about the opening and closing issue in terms of actuators of the same level?
An eccentric valve is more labor-saving! A centerline butterfly valve is one that isn’t eccentric; that’s right, ball valves are theoretically cheaper
In our understanding of this concept, isn’t it said that butterfly valves are cheap?
