For the circumferential weld joints of the shell-side cylinder in steel fixed-plate heat exchangers where non-destructive testing is not possible, when TIG welding is used for the root pass or when gaskets in close contact with the base metal are used along the entire length of the weld joint, the weld joint coefficient φ = 0.6. May I ask whether this circumferential joint refers to the joint where the cylinder is welded to the tube sheet, or to the joint where cylinders are butted together?
