Our company’s biochemical wastewater currently has a concentration of around 450 mg/L; the BOD level is approximately 40–60 mg/L, while the TDS level is around 14,000 mg/L. We are looking for ways to reuse this water. The desired standards for the reused water are a COD level of 30 mg/L, a TDS level of 300 mg/L, with a total volume of about 600 cubic meters per day – of which 300 cubic meters per day need to be reused
Membrane treatment – the cost for this must be quite high, right? With such a high salt content, isn’t it necessary to carry out pretreatment before biochemical treatment?
The TDS is over 10,000; evaporation might need to be considered.
After membrane concentration, MVR concentration is used; the salt content in the RO concentrate stream discharged is too high. At our water treatment plant, we supply demineralized water to thermal power plants, and strict limits are set for the discharge of RO concentrate.
Such wastewater can be directly reused in the circulating cooling water system after only rough filtration; the chemical control system prevents scaling, corrosion, and waste discharge. Zero wastewater discharge is entirely achievable.
