The company plans to repaint the process pipelines (including fire protection pipelines) and storage tanks, as well as apply safety signs, this year. The management has assigned a task: the safety colors and signs must meet international standards{:2_33:}. So, I set out to gather information on this \"difficult\" task. The following is the information I have found: 1. GB 2894-2008 – Safety signs and guidelines for their use; 2. GB 2893-2008 – Safety colors; 3. GB 7231-2000 – Basic identification colors, symbols, and safety signs for industrial pipelines; 4. GB 13495.1-2015 – Fire safety signs, Part 1: Signs. None of these four standards specifies the types of background colors, the size of color rings, or the size of text for gasoline pipelines, diesel pipelines, ethanol pipelines, and kerosene pipelines. I’m completely confused now! The base color of the pipelines in our facility is silver (silver powder); gasoline (ethanol) is marked with red rings, diesel (kerosene) with green rings, while fire suppression lines and foam lines are both red. I would like to ask the experts here: who can explain where the standards for safety colors, as used by companies like CNPC and Sinopec, come from?
