The evaporation section of the coking fractionation tower refers to the 2–3 layers of trays located below the wax oil collection tank and on the heat exchange baffle. The control of this tray temperature serves both as a means to regulate the quality of wax oil and as an important parameter determining the circulation ratio in the coking unit as well as the amount of liquid product obtained. The higher this temperature: the cycle ratio decreases, the wax oil char increases, and the liquid yield increases. However, too high a temperature can cause coking on the trays in the evaporation section. The oil and gas from the coke tower enter the distillation tower beneath the heat exchange baffle.
